Finding happiness in simple pleasures.
My father was a Danish designer of beautiful teak kitchenware in the 60s and 70s (you can google “Digsmed Design”) and my mum a French stylist and artist. My uncle Michel Buades is a painter and sculptor in Ibiza. I grew up in Ibiza by the sea.
When I was about three years old, my parents where fighting all the time. I can’t remember them hugging or kissing.
My mum became single and she had a tough life bringing me up all by herself. She was bitter and negative quite often (sorry mum if you read that). Drawing brought me joy and lightness.
Fortunately, she sent me to live sometimes with my grand parents. My grand father was very affectionate but had been a prisoner during Second World War and lost everything he had built during the Algerian war in 1962. He had become quite depressed and negative. Everything was a drama… I had a grandmother as resourcing as the sun. She was tall, blonde, often dressed in white, smiling, optimistic, generous and always supported me until she passed away in 2019.
She loved watching sunsets, loved to swim in the sea, loved her rose garden, also loved to sit on bar terraces and watch people passing and enjoying themselves. She always pointed out to me the happiness of life simple pleasures and how lucky we were to be able to enjoy them. She taught me gratitude.
Introverted and contemplative by nature, I have been drawing since I was little. Being an only child, drawing has always been my companion.
It is an outlet, fun and vital for my balance.
I love life. I’m an optimistic, I need to see the bottle half full, I live in the present and I am fortunate to have a lovely family, great friends and you, there somewhere giving me your support.
Antibes has been my city since 2011 and I am absolutely charmed.
My husband is Australian and we have two children aged 12 and 16, two cats, a dog and pigeons nests under the roof. We live in the center of Antibes in a small house from 1930. I have been a graphic designer and artistic director in the internet for 15 years but without passion. I have only dared showing my drawings 6 years ago only and I am getting to know lots of beautiful people who seem to share my values. It makes me very happy and I feel very lucky. Thanks to all of you for being here on this wonderful adventure!
